Dubrovnik Summer Packing Guide

Pack light my friends. Let me say it again COTTON.

I am generally a cold person, not a hot person. I wear sweaters anytime the sun goes in, or there’s air conditioning on. I’m happy in the heat. That being said, sometimes it’s just too hot for comfort. Packing for summer in Dubrovnik is not a joke. Cotton is your friend.

Dubrovnik in the summer is one of those times. Don’t get me wrong I love it. I LOVE it here. There’s nothing better than being super hot and jumping into the perfect ocean. But I didn’t pack correctly for it.

When I was packing for this first 7 months of our journey I was trying to bring things that would work in all of the locations and weather conditions we’d be inhabiting. Given that I was adamant about only bringing one suitcase, that was pretty hard. I packed a lot of cute tanks, and flowy dresses, in theory, a great call. The only flaw was that they were mostly synthetics and synthetics do not breathe.  I have been phasing in several cotton dresses that I have found and it’s been great.

Pack Dresses

If you are into dresses I would suggest bringing mostly dresses. It gets so hot in the daytime that you don’t want anything sticking to you, or constricting you like jeans. I have not worn my jeans once in a whole month.

I have historically not been a cotton person. I like more structured pieces, and more vintage looks, but I have put that all aside because I have discovered comfort is sometimes more important than fashion.

I always overpack as well… I get going and think, well it’s just a few more things, I wouldn’t want to get there and be missing something. Keep in mind, you can buy anything you need here. Pack Light!

Pack Comfortable Shoes

You’ll be walking a lot so bring comfortable shoes. Also, bring aqua shoes if you have them. Dubrovnik is lined with beautiful rocky beaches, and the urchin love to make their homes here. If you don’t have them, no worries, nearly every single store sells them for about $10, I highly recommend them.

Dubrovnik is a fairly dressed downtown being that is a beach town, so no need to pack tons of fancy things – maybe one nice outfit if you are going to a concert.

Well, that’s about it. Happy Packing.
