Getting Around Stari Grad Croatia

Getting Around Stari Grad is very simple. You can walk everywhere within the city. From the main square to many of the wonderful beaches.

RENTALS

There’s a great scooter and bike rental post right off of the bay across from the park on the main driving street. It’s called Park Rental and the owner is Dario - he works with his son Yvan - they are great guys and speak english well so they're here to help with your rental. The address is Put bana Josipa Jelačića 1, 21460 - Call them to reserve in busy months +385 91 902 1965

BUS

If you want to leave town and visit other spots on the island then the bus is your best bet.

HERE is a link to the bus schedule. The bus station is just to the right as you walk out of town to your right in the Studenac supermarket parking lot. Tip: arrive early, sometimes the buses leave before the scheduled time. You can pay on the bus in cash.

CAB

You can get a cab if you have to for some reason, but take it from me, it’s not cheap. Cabs arrive in the center of town you’ll see signs right across from Damir. You can also go to Hvar Unlimited on the main driving road into town at Ul. Marina Sabića 2, 21460 They will be happy to assist you with transportation.

FERRY

To get to the mainland you’ll take a ferry. From Stari Grad it’s also a car carrier. You leave from the port outside of town.  You can walk there in about 1/2 hour, or you can get the bus at the bus stop directly to the port, check the bus schedule. It takes about 10 minutes to go to the port by car or taxi. The boat ride to Split about 2 hours.

You should buy tickets in advance HERE for the Jadrolinija Line.

WATER TAXI

We've never stayed in town in the season - Mid June to Mid September. This year we came back to town in August and discovered a water taxi! The town has grown so much in the last 2 years we've been away due to Covid - it's an adjustment but it's also exciting. So water taxi Oliva is located midtown at the end of Tvrdalj Square in front of the pink coffee shop called Espresso. Antonio will be happy to take you to the nearby beach bars or even farther to the surrounding islands -- give him a call or a whatsapp at +385 91 5616 808.
